preschool at mzamba

The earth filled – jute fabric and weld-mesh- walls we used at the workshop units were used by the University of Applied Science Munich (FH München) to construct a preschool unit with community support. The structure made of self-produced pillars was plastered in first layer with red sand by local plaster experts.

The construction will continue January 2013.

workshop and storage

The set up of a workshop unit and storage serves housing farming personnel and security in the meantime. We put a new construction method to the test – casting concrete pillars and filling walls using the broadly available stones. The upper structure is made by treated wood and temporarily covered with corrugated iron.

Through ventilaton a fairly good roomclimate could be accomplished and the foundation for the container was laid. Specialists and youth of Fonelisco volunteered interested in the new way of building and members of the community were collecting and breaking stones. The building is equipped with a solar system for light and telephone charger and will be finished in the next phase.
